Injury update on Worthing duo Ajiboye and Barker

Worthing Football Club's top-scorer David Ajiboye is set for three weeks on the sidelines with the ankle ligament injury he sustained at Bedford Town on Saturday.

Ajiboye has starred at Woodside Road this season and has netted 12 goals since being released by Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer.

Danny Barker also went off in the defeat at Bedford with a hamstring strain but Worthing hope the defender/midfielder, who has also impressed this season, will be back a week on Saturday.

The duo add to a lengthy injury list at the club as Aarran Racine, Alfie Young, Lucas Covolan and Ollie Pearce have all missed games recently, although Pearce could be back for Saturday's home match with Bishop's Stortford.

Worthing boss Adam Hinshelwood said: "We're missing some big players now.

"Danny has arguably been our most consistent performer this season but it gives an opportunity to other players and that's why we have a good squad at the club.

"I'm hoping when we get to January, everyone will be back fit and available and competition for places will be rife.

"I'm sure other clubs have their own injury issues but I've never known anything like this in my time as a manager.

"It's a new experience for me but it's something we'll learn from."

Worthing have contacted Bromley and Welling about extending the respective loans of Reece Meekums and Zack Newton and are waiting to hear back.
