WORTHING FC went down 2-1 at home to lowly Whitstable in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday (March 19).
Both sides had chances in the early exchanges and Shaun Charles, on his league debut, looked dangerous and went close on a couple of occasions.
Whitstable took the lead on 27 minutes when Lloyd Blackman knocked a ball over Rebels’ defence for Ian Pulman to run on to and he coolly lobbed Tony Di Bernardo.
Within 90 seconds it was 2-0 when Pulman got through, rounded Di Bernardo and slotted home.
Worthing got a goal back on 83 minutes when Steve Metcalf headed home Kevin Townsend’s corner but Rebels did not threaten an equaliser and finished the game with 10 men when Townsend went off with a knee injury.
