Lancers’ Fenton lands three awards

LANCING Football Club held their annual presentation night for all four of their teams at Culver Road on Friday.

A well-attended event saw the player-of-the-year awards handed out, as well as a number of other awards recognising those who keep the club going behind the scenes.

Chairman Martin Gander praised the efforts of everyone at the club during what has a been a tough year on and off the pitch.

Tony Wheeles was awarded the clubman of the year award in recognition of his unstinting efforts.

For the senior side, George Fenton was praised by manager Richard Whittington and assistant secretary Mike Clark and was named the committees’ player of the year.

The young defender, an ever-present for the first team last season, also won the players’ player and the supporters’ player of the year awards, the latter jointly with Jonno Melia.

Owen Callaghan’s versatile contribution throughout the season saw him recognised as the manager’s player of the year.
