Lions hungry for Albion left back

Millwall are showing an interest in Brighton back up left back Marcos Painter after the Londoners failed in a move for former Seagull Jim McNulty.

The Lions bid £300,000 for the Barnsley player but were told to come back with a bid nearer the £1million mark, with the Tykes keen to keep hold of the player recently named Oakwell captain and who won the Player’s Player of the Year award in his first season in Yorkshire.

Reports coming out of south London suggest the New Den outfit have instead turned their attentions to Painter, who will likely be a fringe player at the Albion following the arrival of Wayne Bridge on loan.

Painter is the third left sided defender with Albion links to be targeted by Millwall, after the club tried to sign Joel Lynch in the close season.
