Louis, who was at the club for three seasons, made the decision before the weekends Sussex RUR Charity Cup second round victory at Sidlesham on Saturday.

With no involvement in that clash, Louis’ final game with Shoreham was their 3-1 Southern Combination Football League Premier Division defeat to Worthing United.

The former player-boss leaves the club with them currently sitting 14th in the table with two wins from their opening seven league matches.

Louis admitted it was a tough decision and said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club but felt now was the right time to go.

“I have been here for three seasons and it has been great for me.

“I wish Shoreham all the best in the future but now this gives me a chance to take a break from the game for a while and focus on other things.”

Simon Funnell has been appointed as Shoreham’s new boss.
