McBride nets only goal in win at YMCA

A Ryan McBride strike 20 minutes from time proved to be the difference as EP secured their fourth win from five league matches.

The hosts started the brighter with Josh Brown and Martin Smith forcing EP keeper Nick Collick into saves early on.

Liam Hunter then blazed a close-range shot just over soon afterwards, as Horsham YMCA were causing EP problems.

Adam Hunt had East Preston’s first opportunity but his sliced effort went just wide of the post.

EP could have taken the lead just minutes into the second half but Liam Baitup saw his effort saved by Simon Lockwood in the YM goal.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring on 68 minutes when McBride chipped the ball over Lockwood to put his side ahead.

YMCA pushed for an equaliser and nearly levelled with two minutes left but Farzad Bidgood’s shot was straight at Collick as EP held on for the victory.
