Two members of last season’s Hastings United squad have agreed terms to join Eastbourne Town.

Midfielders Danny Ellis and Matt Darby look to be heading along the coast to play under the management of former United boss John Lambert.

“They have been good players for the club but I feel both were looking for guaranteed football which I could not offer them, nobody within my squad will be afforded that privilege,” said Hastings manager Terry White.

Goalkeeper Greg Nessling will also be returning to Town after a short spell at The Pilot Field.

As for players coming in, White has been busy trying to bolster his full-back options. He has been in discussion with former United player Elliott Cox, although this “is looking a non-starter”.

He was also due to talk to a player who has turned out for Welling United in Conference South and has spoken to George Savage, a right-back from Hythe Town who is expected to attend pre-season training, as is 19-year-old Eastbourne United AFC goalkeeper Grant Young.

Sean Kelly, who quit United last season to focus on boxing, has expressed an interest in returning and White admitted: “I’m hopeful on that one.”
