Oak’s clash with Haywards Heath abandoned

The game passed a 4pm pitch inspection and Oak were 2-1 ahead when the game was called off.

Lloyd Skinner and Jack Arnold netted in the first half as Oak led 2-0 at half-time.

Heath pulled a goal back on 68 minutes but torrential rain meant the referee had no choice but to call the game off five minutes later.

Oak boss Anthony Whittington felt it was the correct decision and said: “It was definitely correct to call it off.

“As we were walking off the field, the rain stopped but it was heavily waterlogged at that stage.

“It would have required quite a lot of work to get the game back on in the end.

“As we were in the lead, it was a bit disappointing but there is nothing that we could do.”

A decision will now be made in the next week at a league committee meeting whether the result stands or the game will be replayed.
