James Colinese got the only goal seven minutes from the end as unbeaten Bosham secured a 1-0 home success in the Southern Combination League Division 2 encounter.

It was far from plain sailing for the Robins, with United wasting a hatful of opportunities.

Banasco-Zaragoza, in his first game in senior management, believes there is plenty to build from.

He said: “It was not the result we wanted but the performance was pleasing. The difference was they took the chance when it came and we didn’t.

“We’ve got plenty to work on but I’ve been really pleased since coming in.”

United wasted various good openings in the first half, before Colinese made them pay with his effort seven minutes from the end.

Lancing United welcome league below Mid Sussex League Premier Division side Forest Row for a Sussex Intermediate Cup third-round clash on Saturday.

LANCING UNITED: Allfrey; Dixon, Dawson Tuppen, Johnson; Page;, Gunn, Thetford, Hunt, O’Regan; Stakim. Subs: Harvey (Dixon), Bailey (Gunn), Measom (Thetford).
