BEN POPE’S brace gave Worthing Football Club a 2-1 win over Thamesmead Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup this afternoon.
Pope opened the scoring after just three minutes when he collected Ryan Morey’s sublime pass, rounded the keeper and slotted home.
On 21 minutes, Pope made it 2-0 when he netted from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.
Thamesmead pulled a goal back in injury-time but Rebels held on to collect the £3,000 prize money.
