Heavy rain throughout last week and again on Saturday caused all but three Sussex County Leagues to be postponed – with some of the games called off as early as Friday afternoon.

Of the three that did survive, only East Preston’s home game with Selsey in Division 1 was completed, with the hosts winning 4-0.

In the same division, Lancing’s home clash with Chichester was abandoned after only 18 minutes owing to a waterlogged pitch. And the Reserve Section East Division match between Seaford and Bexhill was abandoned at half-time.

Worthing’s Ryman League South Division game at Herne Bay was postponed on Friday, while the Worthing and West Sussex league programmes were all completely washed out on Saturday.

There were two cup games in the Worthing & Horsham League played on Sunday, although the Sussex Sunday League had all of its matches postponed.

Worthing Raiders Rugby Club completed their National 1 home game with Doncaster Knights on Saturday but just one match in the Sussex Intermediate League went ahead, as Shoreham drew 16-16 with Horley.
