Rebels are fighting fit for festive fixtures

Worthing Football Club joint boss Lee Brace believes his side are fighting fit heading into their festive fixtures.

Rebels will be looking to maintain their fine away unbeaten run at Ryman League Division 1 South leaders Maidstone on Saturday, before hosting Horsham in a Boxing Day derby (3pm).

Rebels are training twice this week, an indoor fitness session on Tuesday before spending Thursday evening on a 3G pitch – a surface they will play on at Maidstone’s new ground at the weekend.

Brace said: “It’s a big game against the league leaders and we had a two-hour indoor session on Tuesday. Our fitness levels are brilliant at the moment and that’s something we’ve worked on in recent weeks for this busy period.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring home the bacon.”

Jamie Brotherton is likely to be fully fit after a quad injury for the Maidstone trip, while goalkeeper Josh James returns after missing Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Crawley Down Gatwick.
