Rebels slip to seventh after away defeat

WORTHING Football Club slipped out of the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off places on Saturday (April 14) after a 4-3 defeat at Ramsgate.

Maidstone moved into fifth, the final play-off spot, with a 3-0 win over Chipstead and Godalming are now sixth after defeating Crawley Down 5-2. Both sides are three points ahead of Rebels, who slipped to seventh, with just two games left.

Worthing are at Hythe next Saturday, before hosting Crawley Down in the final game of the season on April 28.

Ramsgate tok a seventh-minute lead through Aaron Quain and doubled their lead on 28 minutes through Ian Pulman.

Rebels had Glen Woodburn sent off before Ramsgate made it 3-0 from the penalty spot on 39 minutes.

Luke Gedling got a goal back on 72 minutes, before Mike Huckett made it 3-2 with eight minutes left.

Ramsgate went 4-2 up in the last minute, although there was still time for Worthing to get a third when Huckett scored from the penalty spot.
