Liam Rosenior returned earlier this month from a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, while Uwe Hunemeier has started the last two games owing to Shane Duffy's injury.

Solly March and Beram Kayal have also come back into the squad after injury and both are now returning to their best.

Hughton said: "On the evidence of the last couple of games they've slotted in very well and given us that level of competition. It's always difficult to determine whether you want to make changes or go with the team that's either got a good result the week before or is going through a good period.

"We've been delighted with their contribution as they've come in."

Hughton also praised his side's defence after back-to-back clean sheets, despite a number of changes.

He said: "For where we are as regards to the squad, we've been reasonably fortunate in the forward areas and across midfield with injuries.

"Kayal has come back now but the big problem we've had has been in defensive positions, where at times we've had five players out. If you're bringing players into a particular position, generally in defensive positions is where you want your stability.

"What we did have in two centre-halves, Duffy and Dunk, are two that have played constantly through the season and probably a back three that hadn't moved too much, so I'm really delighted with them clean sheets."
