John Rhodie has been named the new manager of Storrington Football Club.
Having played for Swans for several years, chairman Nigel Dyer says Rhodie’s appointment keeps some continuity at the club for the upcoming season.
Dyer said: “John has been at the club for a long time and was always going to get into the management side of things. We’ve lost all of the managers who were at the club last season, so I felt it was right to keep some continuity at the club and try to settle things down.
“It’s the right time for him to do it and hopefully it will be the right appointment for us. I think we’re probably two weeks behind other clubs in our preparation for the season but I’m positive about the future now.”
Matt Nelmes will assist Rhodie and Ollie Setchell will be player-coach.
Nick Waters is the new manager of Storrington’s reserve side, with Sean O’Reilly his assistant/coach.
Swans have kept the majority of last season’s squad together, with Gary Peters, Josey Stakim and Josh Gibbons the only departures.
Storrington made a winning start to the new season on Tuesday evening with a 1-0 victory at home to Billingshurst in the Peter Bentley Cup. Sean Culley got the only goal on 21 minutes.
Swans host Saltdean in the league on Saturday, then entertain AFC Varndeanians on Tuesday.
