Seagulls’ weekend odds - Huddersfield

The Seagulls took their unbeaten record to four at Molineux last weekend - although it looked like they had done enough for all three points.

Having twice come from behind, they looked to have won a valuable three points when Stephen Dobbie scored from the spot in the 89th minute only for Roger Johnson to salvage a point for 10-man Wolves deep into injury time.

Unsurprisingly the rival managers disagreed on the validity of the Seagulls’ penalty with Wolves’ Norwegian manager Stale Solbakken suggesting the referee made a mistake and that justice had been done with their 94th minute equaliser.

Wolves’ spirit was personified by Solbakken who punched a two-foot square hole in the dug out roof when Craig Mackail-Smith equalised and they are still promotion rivals which makes the loss of two points even more frustrating for Brighton.

Albion will move above Huddersfield with a win at the John Smith’ Stadium on Saturday; the Seagulls are favourites for the game which might surprise some. They are 31/20 with BetVictor with Town 15/8, and the draw at 9/4.

Jermaine Beckford is on loan at Huddersfield from Leicester City and the former Leeds and Everton striker is 5/1 to score the opener with Mackail-Smith 9/2 favourite, Ashley Barnes 6s and another former Toffee James Vaughan at 13/2.

Brighton are back in to 5/1 for promotion and 2/1 to finish in the top six and thus get, at worst, a playoff spot and let’s hope when the dust has settled Poyet is not still bemoaning the two dropped points at Molineux.
