Seaguls a weekend banker at the bookies?

NO GOALS in two games for the Seagulls, but that doesn’t tell the true story and Gus Poyet will be looking forward with relish to Saturday’s visit of relegation favourites Barnsley to the Amex as Brighton look to get their season up and running.

The Seagulls are 20s at BetVictor for the Championship title from 18/1 last week and are 6/1 to be promoted; they are 8/11 to gain all three points against the Reds with Barnsley 22/5 and the draw at 13/5.

It is hard to see past a home win and suggest Brighton will be many people’s idea of a weekend banker despite the worrying lack of goals.

Craig Mackail-Smith and Ashley Barnes are 5/1 joint favourites to open the scoring and the former remains 13/8 favourite to be the top scorer in the Championship for the Seagulls despite a barren couple of games.

Brighton are 29/20 to lead at both half and full-time and that also makes plenty of appeal given they have started well in both games so far.

The visitors were winners on the opening day at Oakwell against Boro, but were well beaten at Molineux midweek and they are 6/4 to be playing in League One this time next year; Palace are the big movers in this market given their poor start to the campaign and are now 2s from 11/4 for the drop.
