In new boss John Rhodie’s first game in charge, Swans led 1-0 at half-time in the Southern Combination League Division 1 match through Jack Boxall’s 25-yard thunderbolt which flew in off the underside of the bar.

Storrington keeper Gary Elliott made an excellent save to deny Tyler Goatcher in the first half, before Saltdean came out of the traps quickly in the second period and levelled through Craig Hall’s stunning strike on 50 minutes.

The visitors went ahead midway through the second half when Goatcher finished off a well-worked move.

Storrington pressed for an equaliser and Rhodie had a header cleared from danger and Sean O’Reilly just failed to connect with a cross, before Searle popped up at the back post and headed home Ross Fraser’s cross.

Rhodie said: “It was good to get a point as they are a strong side with a lot of new players and will be up there at the end of the season.

“Both sides tried to play decent football and although they dominated the possession, it was in areas that didn’t really threaten us.
