WORTHING United Youth Football Club’s under-16 team lifted the Challenge Cup with a 2-0 win against Worthing Town at the end of last month.
In a tense match on a cold, misty evening at Arundel, a large crowd watched the game.
Worthing Town started well and created some early chances but United soon settled and took the lead midway through the first half. Excellent work from George Evans on the left found Tom Chisnell unmarked at the far post and he neatly slotted home.
The game was then fairly even, with both sides threatening the goal. United began to get on top in the second half and scored a deserved second goal to double their lead.
A fantastic man-of-the-match performance from Joe Norgett was rewarded when he used his height advantage to meet a Nick Oxley corner with a superbly placed header.
United then held on to win the cup for the second time in three years.
The Worthing United team was Ben Bingham, Declan Moore, Ollie Atterbury, Liam Davies, George Evans, Jacob Parkin, Joe Norgett, Connor McHale, Tom Chisnell, Ben Thomas, Jake Binns, Jack Nickson, Jack Peacock, Nick Oxley, Tristan Parfitt and Lewis McKelvie.
