WORTHING Football Club hosted their last game on grass at Woodside Road on Saturday when they entertained Whyteleafe in the Ryman League South Division.
Rebels were pipped to the last play-off spot by Whyteleafe, who had won eight successive games, before that run ended on Saturday as Worthing won 2-0 to seal a sixth-placed finish.
Omar Bugiel headed Rebels into the lead from Curtis Gayler’s cross on 17 minutes, before Gayler got the second on 26 minutes.
Worthing saw out the remainder of the game without too much alarm to record a fourth successive win as the final whistle blew on the Woodside Road grass pitch.
Work began on preparing the pitch for the 3G surface earlier this week. Rebels hope that the 3G surface will be in place by the beginning of July and they are trying to organise a high-profile friendly for the middle of July.
