White may tinker head of leaders Dulwich’s visit

After Rebels were held to a 2-2 draw with Whyteleafe on Tuesday night, White hinted he may change the Woodside Road’s outfits system to try to get them back to their early-season form.

With a league campaign heavily disrupted by cup runs, Rebels’ last 11 games have seen only two where they competed for league points – both of which ended in draws.

Worthing must now turn their attention to the league, where they have games in hand, but face a tough clash as Dulwich travel to Woodside having won 10 of their 13 games this season and lost just one, with Rebels 11 points behind, in seventh, with three games in hand.

White admitted he took no major positives from Tuesday night’s draw and said of Saturday: “It’s a massive game. A lot of people think we are playing one up front at the moment, but we are actually playing three, with the wide guys.

“But, maybe I will change that on Saturday and go 4-4-2 as we need to be a bit more solid and have someone to play off Ryan (McBride). It’s something I need to think about. Earlier in the season we were playing quicker and getting the ball into him up there, but with the pitches getting heavier, maybe we need to try something different – at least until we get our confidence back.

“I am hopeful Steve (Metcalf) will be back, but Glen (Woodburn) looks doubtful, he did some running Tuesday and doesn’t look like he’ll be ready.”

Mick Huckett is now back after injury and Billy Franks will be fully fit, but Steve Davies is off to County League side Shoreham to gain some match fitness.

Jamie Groves is unlikely to feature at Woodside Road again this season after committing to play Tuesday night, but then having to pull out at the last minute through work commitments.
