STEYNING Town Football Club manager Richard Whittington was delighted with his side’s performance in their 5-0 win over Midhurst on Tuesday.
Town returned to winning ways after back-to-back home defeats against Broadbridge Heath and Bexhill.
The victory took them into the top eight in County League Division 2, which was their target at the start of the season, and Whittington said: “It was a great win and pleasing to get back to how we had been playing prior to the Broadbridge Heath game.
“This squad has great strength in depth, a blend of youth and experience and an enthusiasm and hunger to achieve what we set out to do at the start of the season.
“It has been a fantastic season, one which we can all look back on and enjoy.
“Steyning have been languishing in the doldrums for so long, so it’s fantastic for us to be where we are.
“We were excellent tonight, played some great football and scored some great goals. It was a great night for us.”
Steyning have one game left to play this season, which is away to Westfield on May 4.
