Giants play for Tsunami victims' fund

The Bexhill Giants' Tsunami fundraising match proved a great success as players, supporters and sponsors helped raise £221 towards the appeal.

The event was well supported by a very large crowd with the younger supporters taking part in a halt time shoot out competition and all the other spectators taking part in a raffle. The Giants and their sponsors, Porter Associates Financial Accountants both contributed to the fund and the Bexhill Leisure Centre donated their use of the hall free of charge.

The fun match was won 82- 64 by the Bexhill Giants , although the Hastings Select team comprising of quite a few Giants under 18 players gave the superior opposition an early scare in a keenly contested match supported vociferously by the spectators.

Giants coach Eric Douglin said: " It was great to see so many people out in force to support a worthwhile cause. Although the match was hastily arranged people gave up their time and put in a lot of effort to enable the Giants to raise an amount way above their expectations, and I would like to thank all of those involved in making the day a great success."
