The former Hill Barn member sailed to success in a rain-hit event which was reduced to 36 holes owing to flooding, by shooting an opening round 72 and second-day two-under-par 71 at Amsterdam’s The International.

The players had to battle the elements and, while Brown was disappointed not to have had the chance to win the title over the regulation three days, the now Germany-based golfer was delighted to have added to his trophy haul after playing some stunning golf in the opening two days.

He said: “Obviously, I’m delighted to have won the tournament. The weather was just horrendous out there and it would have been a complete lottery for everyone if we even tried to begin play so these decisions have to be made.

“Honestly, looking outside, I am relieved. It doesn’t take anything away from my victory but, obviously, we would have all liked to have gone out and played a third round of this event. Sometimes you have no control over the circumstances.

“I’m just happy to have done what I did in the first two days. It’s amazing that I have two victories now. I never thought anything like this would happen in my first year on the Senior Tour.”

Brown, 50, who began playing golf in Worthing at 11 years old has many local ties across Sussex, and family still in the town celebrated his maiden tour triumph back in September when he was victorious in the Russian Open.

He will need something special in the final two events of the season to overtake current Order of Merit leader Steen Tinning and claim the John Jacobs Trophy, but he has moved to fourth in the standings and has his eye firmly on finishing in the top six, which earns an exemption into all of the Senior Majors in 2014.

In Amsterdam, Scotland’s Ross Drummond was second, two shots behind Brown.
