The club will be represented in five competitions and will be looking to continue their excellent recent form in the championships, which begin on Monday.

The fours team of Nora Grief, Cathy Kuhler, Helen Jones and Lorraine Kuhler will play as Sussex A, after they won the Sussex final with a 31-6 victory over a Hurstpierpoint team skipped by Brenda Davies on Saturday.

The fours event gets underway on Monday afternoon and the women’s championship runs until August 16.

Lorraine Kuhler will compete in the under-25 singles and two-wood singles on the national stage. She won the Sussex under-25 singles final 21-15 against Staplecross’s Emma Cooper but lost the two-wood Sussex final.

Jones, for the first time, will compete in the champion of champions event at Leamington Spa, after winning three matches in the area to qualify. She defeated Liz Dawson (21-12), Jenny Goodman (21-9) and Margaret Adcock (21-7).

Peggy Hayward, Jones’s stepmother, and Denise Latter will be in action in the pairs after they defeated Hurstpierpoint’s Jenny Goodman and Davies 18-14 in the Sussex final on Saturday.
