IT'S A SECOND FINAL FOR LITTLEHAMPTON

LITTLEHAMPTON and Copthorne will contest the Davies and Tate final at Royal Eastbourne on September 10. In the afternoon rain of Saturday's semi-final at Copthorne, Littlehampton booked their place for the second successive year by beating Willingdon 6½-5½ in a closely fought semi-final.

Littlehampton had put themselves in a strong position after halving the foursomes. Their two wins (6&5 by Wayne Hawes and Chris Sykes and 5&4 by skipper Steve Graham and Gary Fisher) meant they needed only four points from the singles.

Afterwards Graham said that he had expected a close result. "My prediction was that we would win by two points. But our strong position after the foursomes seemed to give Willingdon some momentum as our advantage began to slip" he commented.
