Raiders dropped to 13th –just one place and four points above the National 2 South relegation zone – after a 27-3 defeat at high-flying Old Albanian on Saturday.

Canterbury are two places and four points better off than Raiders, with four games left of the season.

Three of those are at home for Worthing, including one against third-from-bottom Dorking on April 23.

Looking ahead to the clash with Canterbury, Dawson said: “It’s a big game and it’s not lost on the players but it’s important we don’t go into it too nervous and play within ourselves.

“We are a good side but are just lacking a bit of confidence.

“It’s good to have three of our four remaining games at home and that’s a big advantage for us.

“The problem has been we haven’t been taking our chances. I’m confident in the way we’ve been playing. We’ve just got to stick to our guns and have the confidence to keep going.”
