JAMES RESCUES EP A POINT

SUBSTITUTE James Bennett's late scrambled goal earned Mark Chaplin's team a highly prized point at Mill Road and the visitors came mighty close to consigning former manager Vic Short to only a second home league defeat of the season.

The two teams came into the match with conflicting fortunes, Short's Mullets riding high in the table, while his former charges struggle in the lower reaches.

But anyone expecting a Valentine's Day massacre at Mill Road were sorely mistaken. There was simply too much at stake. Short's departure last term from the Lashmar, followed by several key players was always likely to up the stakes when his new team met his old boys. A sizeable travelling support from the Lashmar only added to spice up proceedings.
