KING'S MEN ARE EASTER ENTERTAINERS

On Easter Monday, Lewes boss Steve King took his side for a short trip down the coast to Bognor, where Robbie Williams' hit song Let Me Entertain You was blasting out of the PA as the players took the field at Nyetimber Lane.

Entertaining? Well, yes actually. This was another decent match on a perfect playing surface in West Sussex, with both sides playing a passing game.

And Lewes took an early lead on nine minutes when Simon Wormull found Paul Booth with a deep cross to the far post. When the striker squared for Chris Greatwich, the youngster blasted home.

Greatwich '“ who has represented the Philippines and played collegiate football in the US '“ was sharp throughout and showed wonderful first touches.

Booth hit the back of the net soon afterwards but from an indirect free kick, before Gary Holloway shot high after an impressive run.

Lewes seemed comfortable, although occasionally Steve Williams' handling was less than perfect.

Steve Robinson and Ian Simpemba were superb in the air as usual, meaning the Rocks seldom threatened from set pieces.

The hosts' Ben Johnson, however, was dangerous and, having skinned Robinson on one occasion, he would have been disappointed not to have troubled Williams.

Bognor might be below mid-table but they wanted the points badly and finished the first period stronger althrough it was Sigere who had the last opportunity of the half with a header.

Soon after the restart Williams again gave travelling Rooks fans the jitters when he struggled to gather from a Ben Watson effort.

But he was blameless when the Rocks equalized on 52 minutes as Luke Nightingale played a simple cross along the deck and an unmarked Scott Chamberlain had a simple finish.

And it was Watson who nearly put the hosts in front when he was fed by Johnson. With Williams beaten it took a goal-line clearance from Simpemba to keep Lewes on level terms.

Having come on for Drury just after the hour, Jamie Cade would have been disappointed to shoot wide from distance when well set.

The game became increasingly stretched in the final minutes with both sides looking for the win.

Again, the draw was a fair result and Lewes should be complimented for their attractive football.
