Homefield Park’s Lorraine Kuhler and Worthing Herald chief reporter and junior captain Sian Gordon were both part of the England team, who convincingly won the title with wins in all three of their games.

Their first opposition was Scotland, who fielded a younger team than normal. England raced into a lead that they held throughout the game, with wins on all four rinks and an overall score of 101-49.

The afternoon game saw England take on the English development team, fielded in place of Ireland who were unable to attend for financial reasons.

England’s lead was reduced to just two shots three-quarters of the way through the game, but a big push saw them increase that to 13 by the end.

Wales also beat Scotland and the development team, meaning that Sunday morning’s clash with England was the one to decide the title.

A determined England never let their opposition get close to them, convincingly beating Wales 106-49.

Gordon said: “There was a very strong team spirit this year, which created a formidable presence on the greens. The girls performed in every game and proved too strong for the opposition.”
