DAVID Hubbard has successfully defended his Worthing Unified Open singles title.
The Lancing bowler won the top prize at Beach House Park for the second consecutive year on Saturday to pocket the £1,500 cash pot.
Hubbard overcame Chris Young in the final with a 21-12 triumph as the fifth annual two-week event reached its climax.
He had previously overcome Jon Wilson 21-13 in the semi-finals, while Young had beaten Ahilio Ciampini 21-19.
It was the first time runner-up Young had competed in a Worthing open for 12 years – his last appearance was before the Unified Open was formed – when he won the singles crown in 2001.
There was success for Barry Starks, Adam White and Gary Starks in the triples, with their 16-14 win against Chris Jones, Jeff O’Leary and Joe Stevens in the final.
Gary Starks’ rink had overcome Peter Line’s trio 23-13 in the semi-finals, while Stevens triumphed 14-11 over Steve Wessier’s rink.
