Thomas Strudwick lifted the FAB-racing Mini GP 70cc title and brother, Mark, finished third in the Open 500cc Championships and 15th in the ACU 250 GP National Championship.

Thomas, 13, competed in a number of races across the country and, following his title success, he was invited to appear on the Moto GP Tonight programme, which is aired on BT Sport.

He was also one of only four UK-based riders invited to compete in the Red Bull Rookies Cup selection event in Spain last month.

He has been delighted with his year and said: “It’s been a really successful year. To come out on top in the Mini GP 70cc was absolutely brilliant.

“It was a great feeling when I won the trophy as now I know I am currently one of the best riders for my age on the bike that I ride.

“Another highlight was when I went to Spain to compete in the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

“Some of the best riders in Europe were at the event and it provided me with a great challenge and allowed me to experience a whole different type of racing.

“To cap it all off, I also appeared on the Moto GP Tonight show on BT Sport, which was great. I got to meet some legends of the sport in John Hopkins, Bradley Smith and ex-world superbike champion, Neil Hodgson.”

Mark, 17, has also had a strong year and said: “I really enjoyed this year. To claim third place in the Open 500cc Championships was a great achievement.

“And then to secure 15th place in a national competition was another good effort. I hope to continue my success in the new year.”
