Mullets lift Youth Cup

TERRY DODD'S extra-time goal proved to be the 1-0 winner for Arundel in their Sussex County League Youth Cup final against Southwick at East Preston on Thursday.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, Dodd volleyed home Chris Bowyer's cross two minutes into the added period.

Moments later, Mullets' John Meeney was sent off for a second bookable offence but Arundel comfortably held on, despite late Southwick pressure.

Arundel first-team manager, Vic Short, said: "I've been very impressed by the youth team.

"Five of them '” Alex Duncan, Nathan Peacock, Adam Goff, Milke Bailey and Chris Bowyer '” have been involved with the first-team and most of them have played for the reserves.

"It was a cracking volley by Doddsy to win the game."

ARUNDEL: Clack; Duncan, Rondeau, Goff; Gibbons, J.Matthews, Bailey, Meeney, Decosta; Gaskin, Peacock. Subs: Bowyer (Rondeau 65), Dodd (Matthews 70), Barnes (Bailey 100), Graffton, Ellis.
