NO FINAL FOR GOLDS

DESPITE Peter Brackley's wonder goal on Monday night Littlehampton went out of the Brighton Charity Cup at Horsham.

Brackley scored from inside the centre circle when he saw the Horsham keeper off his line. Jonas Templeman and Brackley went close to adding a second, but Golds' keeper Alex Bryant made five excellent saves during the first period.

Horsham half-time substitute Ryan Rummery scored twice in as many minutes at the beginning of the second half.

Golds' Phil Churchill headed Ben Torode's cross against the post with five minutes to go, and Horsham quickly broke for Florian Mateos to seal the win.

LITTLEHAMPTON: Bryant; Barnard, Hazell, Young, M.Hinshelwood; Gibbs; Pearce, West, Rayner; Brackley, Templeman. Subs: Ben Torode (Gibbs 60), Loversidge, Churchill (West, Barnard 65).

Littlehampton's problem of failing to create chances meant another away defeat at Eastbourne Town on Saturday.

Assistant-manager Andy Baumfield said: "We were disappointing. We played well in phases, but it's the same story as it has been all season, where we haven't been able to create anything in the final third of the pitch."

Mark Windsor went closest to a equaliser for Golds but his shot hit the post.

Chris Hazell was pushed up front for the final 15 minutes with Littlehampton looking for an equaliser, but Eastbourne caught them on the counter-attack to net their second.

Eastbourne had taken the lead in the 35th minute. Luke Denton's inswinging free kick 35 yards from goal was met by Ben Putland who headed past Bryant.

Eastbourne's second came on 75 minutes when Steve Dallaway touched home Manton's cross.
