Glenn Bunting is widely regarded as one of the best and probably the most consistent of players at Littlehampton Golf Club And he discovered a welcome return to form after a relatively slow start since lockdown, in the Midweek Competition.

He shot a gross 67 off two handicap for 41 points to win the event, amassing seven birdies in his sparkling round, with three of then coming back to back, in the closing three holes.

Ryan Chitty was second, also with 41.

With no rain so far in April, the course is already playing like a challenging, true links with firm, fast running fairways.

Richard Teanby took the honours in the weekend comp with 42 points after some especially good putting. Conditions were particularly tough with a strong, gusting wind, proving too much of a challenge for many of the field. He retires today so will no doubt be able to play a bit more golf, albeit off a two-shots-lower nine handicap.

Vaso Lazereski finished runner-up with 40 points, five clear of the third place finishers, which would often have been good enough.
