Polegrove Ladies clinch national date

POLEGROVE Ladies Bowling Club has a team through to the English Women's Bowling Association National Championships.

The four of Denise Hodd, Margaret Adcock, Mary Bray and Mary Williams booked their place with a superb 29-9 win over Ringmer in the county semi-finals at Haywards Heath on Monday.

Hodd later played in the last four of the Four Wood Singles and triumphed 21-7 against Rachel Mackriell of Eastbourne Ladies.

She went on to contest the final of the Champion of Champions but was edged out 21-20 by Margaret Odell of Southbourne.

The national finals will take place at Leamington Spa between August 7-20.

Polegrove Ladies have also reached the final of the County Double Rink Competition on the back of a fine win over Peacehaven Ladies and will play Fishbourne Ladies at Petworth BC on August 3.

The home quartet of Doris Wickenden, Cherrie Stephens, Lorraine Hume and Ann Moore won 27-15, while the away team of Adcock, Bray, Williams and Hodd celebrated a 22-15 success.
