Chris Lord broke a couple of challenges to go over and Scott Lyle added the extras.

Worthing got on the scoreboard when Matt McLean kicked over a penalty on 12 minutes but two more penalties from Lyle, when Raiders were twice adjudged offside, moved the visitors 13-3 ahead by half-time.

Within ten minutes of the second half, Raiders were level. McLean kicked a penalty on 45 minutes, before Dan Peach went over after Dan Sargent had made ground with an excellent run.

McLean’s conversion levelled the score, before Worthing took the lead on 55 minutes. Rob Smith was held up by the line and Raiders were awarded a penalty try from the resulting scrum. McLean’s conversion took Worthing 20-13 ahead.

Jon Whittall extended Raiders’ lead when he touched down after a determined run on 65 minutes and McLean’s conversion took the hosts into a 27-13 lead.

Worthing had Sargent sinbinned with ten minutes to go and Bury got a try back with three minutes to go through Lyle, who was unable to add the extras from the touchline.

Lyle then sent a long-range penalty just wide, before Bury ensured they would take a losing bonus point with the last play of the game. Nick Bingham sprinted down the left wing and went over in the corner but Lyle was just wide with the tricky conversion attempt.

RAIDERS: McLean, Greenwood, Loosmore, Richards, Nielsen, Leeming, Peach; Storer, Lukem Sargent, Barlow, Ure, Hewick, Perkins. Subs: Rchardson, Arthur, Margetson, Whittall, Maslen.
