Bowman on the Road: Amex West Stand concourse sees the point

It would of been great to have gone up there one last time and stood in the covered terrace behind the goal. The stadium is old school with loads of standing space, tight and once revved up the atmosphere can be electric.

But alas tickets were like gold dust so the I took the next best option of standing in the Amex West Lower concourse and watching the live beamback on the various screens. There was probably around a thousand like-minded people and what an afternoon we shared.

The game started very slowly as Brentford took command. There was an audible groan when they scored their second goal. It seem to be a case of here we go again. David Stockdale is fast becoming a penalty stopping phenomenon. He was at it again half way through the second period. With that let off Brighton stormed forward to score two goals themselves.

But into injury time there were blank expressions all around the West Concourse as Brentford scored what looked like a late winner. Football, every now and then, has the habit of producing something very special indeed. It happen at Griffin Park when Hemed scored with the last action of a spellbinding contest three three. Concourse in delirium!

It does appear that Chris Houghton has got a real handle on his side's current promotion tilt and I for one think it's written. Sure there has been the odd slip up of late but that point on Sunday is massive. Brighton should be starting their 2017-18 campaign in the Premier League.

Now then, getting away tickets could prove to be quite tricky but don't worry. The live beambacks to the West Stand Lower could be come a very popular way to watch live Premier League games next season.
