Raiders went down 38-43 in the National 1 clash, but a dramatic fightback from trailing 31-5 early in the second half saw the Roundstone Lane side earn two bonus points.

At the full-time whistle Dawson admitted the defeat actually felt like a win considering from how far behind his side had come.

He said: “I would love to be a football coach and use their clichés and say it was a game of two halves, but it wasn’t it was a game of three quarters and one quarter.

“We were 38-5 down at one stage and we come away very very frustrated that we did did not win the match.

“There are a massive amount of positives. We targeted a certain number of points from our first four games and two from today is excellent.

“It’s a long trip back now but to have two points when at one stage we were staring down the barrel at 31-5, well it feels like a win and we would have drawn the game if we had got our kicks on the last two tries.”
