Raiders finished their National 1 season with a 38-34 defeat at home to Wharfedale on Saturday and Dawson is already planning for a promotion push back into the third tier of English rugby.

There will be personnel changes, with players coming and going, but one thing that will not change is Raiders’ running rugby game.

Dawson said: “I’ll never change my philosophy. I feel a bit like Brendan Rodgers.

“There’s all those teams in the Premier League who want to play football and then there’s the Stokes of this world. The teams that play the game the way it should be played are the teams that prosper because the players enjoy it.”

Ollie Richards will not be back with Worthing next season and Dawson said: “Some of the players have had outstanding seasons and we can’t compete with the money they’ll be offered elsewhere. Ollie is definitely going. He’s got a job in the city and good luck to him. I look forward to watching his career because he’s a fantastic player.

“We’ve got some other players who are perhaps getting a bit older and might have a change in lifestyle. And I know a few players have been offered good money to play up the leagues.

“It will be a busy time for me now with the recruiting and we’re quite far advanced with some players.”
