WORTHING Raiders Rugby Club are looking to cast their net further afield to add players to their squad from outside the local area.

The club now have a house in Worthing where players can stay during the season and new prop Aaron Doignie will be one of the players staying there in the upcoming season.

Doignie was previously at Clifton and has more recently been playing in Newcastle, Australia.

Raiders will have a second row from Wales on trial in their pre-season friendly at Blackheath on Saturday.

Another new face who will feature on Saturday will be George Montgomery, a utility back, who has impressed Raiders on the 7s circuit this summer.

Worthing backs coach Nick Buoy said: “We’re looking to recruit from further afield now, so have got a house for players to stay at.

“We’ve got players coming on trial and if they’re good enough, we’ll help them find a job and put them up in the house.

“For us to get back into National 1, we need to get players from further afield, while also keeping all of our local lads.”
