RYAN AT THE DOUBLE

RYAN LOVERSIDGE blew away a ponderous Hassocks at The Sportsfield on Saturday with a superb double to help Littlehampton gain only their fourth league victory of the season.

In what Hassocks boss Dave John described as the worst display he's seen by a team in his years in football, Golds were out of the traps and snapping at the Robins' heels within the opening few minutes. And they held a 2-0 lead after 11 had gone.

After eight minutes, Ritchie Phillips played a long ball through and Loversidge jumped with Hassocks keeper Joel Harding, whose clearance found only Jan Miller, in space, to set up Loversidge for a tap-in.

Then Harding '“ who had an afternoon to forget '“ got in a tangle from an inswinging corner taken by Danny Swain and the ball and the keeper finished in the back of the net.
