Sophia’s delight at GB selection

WORTHING Harriers’ Sophia Warner was confirmed in the Great Britain Paralympic team for the London 2012 Games on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old sprinter has been selected for the T35 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. This is her first Paralympics because the T35 classification has not been featured before.

She is one of 49 members chosen in the GB Paralympic team and she said: “I’m so thrilled and proud to be named as a member of the Paralympics GB Team.

“I am hugely excited to be competing in front of a home crowd

“This is an extraordinarily big deal for me that has come at the end of 12 years of hard work.

“Every athlete in the Paralympic team not only has a remarkable story, but they are world-class athletes. This really will be a summer to remember.

“My training is going extremely well and I’m completely focused on the Games, which will be the highlight of my athletics career.”
