Swim star Hannah sets the pace

HASTINGS Seagulls contested the third of five Club Championships in 2012 and the last before the summer break.

The swimming event featured an astonishing 75 personal best times, including another new all time Championship Record from the inspirational Hannah Keen.

She smashed her own aged 18 years and over 100m breaststroke best set in 2006 by clocking a highly impressive time of 1.17.94.

Fresh from their victories in last month’s championships, Jemimah Berkeley and Cameron Upton each won their aged 9 & under 25m breaststroke events with PBs of 23.45 and 25.78 respectively.

Eleven-year-old Lauren Alff won the 50m backstroke by almost three clear seconds in a PB of 37.78. Emily Williams, 13, claimed the 100m freestyle by a similar comfortable margin and 15-year-old Nadia Winn finished an incredible 14 seconds ahead of her nearest rival in winning the 4x25m IM.

Hannah Kefford, 16, sped to an impressive first place finish in the 100m freestyle, while Keen raced to another PB in the 4x50m Open IM after winning by more than three seconds.

In the boys’ events, 11-year-old Louis Choron won the 50m backstroke with a PB of 40.45, 13-year-old Andy Paige surged to victory in the 100m freestyle with a PB of 1.02.75, and 15-year-old Ben Coles won the boys’ aged 14 and 15 years 4x25m IM with an impressive PB of 1.10.03.

Tom Creed powered past all challengers in winning the 100m freestyle and the Open 4x50m IM, both by comfortable margins and, one of the club’s most experienced swimmers, 18-year-old Nathan Thomas clinched the 100m breaststroke.
