Five of the world’s top-ten players have now confirmed that they will play the historic tournament that takes place in the week before Wimbledon.

Wozniacki, the two-time grand slam finalist, will play alongside players who hold a total of five grand slam titles: Petra Kvitova (Wimbledon 2014, 2011), Agnieszka Radwanska (Wimbledon 2012), and Svetlana Kuznetsova (Roland Garros 2009, US Open 2004) who also won the Eastbourne title in 2004.

In a week where the tournament announced British No.1 and local star Johanna Konta, the tournament’s player field can now boast 19 of the world’s top 30 players, including additional former champions Madison Keys (2014) and Ekaterina Makarova (2010).

The Aegon International Eastbourne will take place from 18-25 June 2016 and is an integral part of the British grass court season, which features 11 international grass-court tournaments in eight venues across the country.

The Aegon International Eastbourne Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher, said: “This is one of the strongest player fields we have ever seen at the Aegon International Eastbourne and we delighted to announce our full player field today.

“Without doubt we have truly world class player field that will give fans an opportunity to see these stars up close and personal in the beautiful setting of Devonshire Park.”

Last month the LTA announced exciting changes to the three week 2017 grass court tournament calendar. The pre-existing ATP 250 tournament will move back to Eastbourne, merging with the WTA Premier Aegon International to form a combined event (as it was from 2009-2014) featuring the following format: a 28-player main draw men’s event and 48-player main draw for the women staged across nine days.

Nottingham will host a combined men’s and women’s tour-level tournament in the same week for the first time in 44 years. Other changes include a doubling of prize money at the Aegon Trophy Series (ATP Challenger & ITF Women’s Pro Circuit) creating the highest value circuit at this level in world tennis.
