THEY MUST DO IT NOW WITHOUT JODY

WORTHING Rugby Club must grab their prime chance of National League status without arguably their most important and inspirational player.

Skipper and blindside flanker Jody Levett suffered a triple fracture of his arm on Saturday and looks certain to miss the rest of Worthing's biggest ever season. Coach Mick Orton said: "It's a massive blow for the club. It's not just his playing ability. It's his whole presence on and off the pitch.

"But the guys will gather round and work together '” not for themselves but for Jody '” until he's back playing."

The injury came in the first half as Worthing demolished injury-hit opposition. Sutton & Epsom had lost 36-18 a week earlier at Cambridge, who emerged on Saturday as Worthing's chief title rivals with a showdown victory at home to London Scottish.

Worthing, with no game this Saturday, have time to regroup before they decisively receive Cambridge then Scottish on February 19 and 26.

Again in their favourite gold jerseys on Saturday, and showing pace and power especially in the centre, Worthing ran in 11 tries, seven in the first half to lead 45-0. It was 64-0 before brave Sutton & Epsom scored two late consolation tries.
