Thunder lose in Newcastle

Worthing Thunder Basketball Club’s two-game winning streak came to a halt on Saturday (January 12) as they lost 81-65 at Team Northumbria.

The team’s last win in Newcastle was in the 2007 EBL play-off final and since then, they have not enjoyed their trips to the north-east. Preparations for this game took a major knock when key scorer Hank Rivers was declared inactive.

Despite being fouled out in the fourth quarter, Bud Johnston led Worthing’s scoring with 15 points. Kadiri Richard added nine and Noel Pollock and Rhys Francis both hit eight points on a night to forget for Thunder.
