Thunder sealed a seventh-placed finish with a 103-81 victory at Newham Neptunes on Saturday and will now meet league runners-up Derby.

Worthing won 95-93 at Derby in the league earlier in the season and recently lost 108-99 at home.

Thunder coach Daniel Hildreth said: “As we have been saying for months now, league positions would be decided on the last weekend of the season due to the unpredictable manner of the league.

“For us to finish seventh could have meant we played any one of five teams. I think that the best two games of our season have been against Derby. We won away by two points and it was an exciting game that could have gone either way at home.

“I feel we are very evenly matched and both games have been played at an extremely high level, fast-paced and exciting throughout.

“We feel we are a top four team in this league and there is only one way to show it. I know one thing is for sure, we will do everything possible to make that happen.”

The winners of Saturday’s quarter-final will progress to the final fours weekend, which is in Sheffield on April 18 and 19
