Thunder’s BBL Trophy date set

Worthing Thunder Basketball Club will take on Cheshire Phoenix in the BBL Trophy quarter-finals on Saturday, February 9, at Worthing Leisure Centre.

The game will tip-off at 7.30pm and Thunder will be looking to create even more history as they have already got further than any EBL side has before.

Worthing overcame BBL side Mersey Tigers in the first round, with a 84-64 victory.

Cheshire sit seventh in the BBL table, with eight wins from 19 games this season.

Thunder’s home EBL Division 1 game with Brixton Topcats on Saturday was postponed.

Brixton informed Thunder at 9.30am on Saturday morning that they would be unable to travel owing to heavy snowfall in the South London area.

All four of the league games on Saturday were postponed and two games on Sunday were also postponed as Team Northumbria versus Hemel Storm and Medway Park Crusaders against Brixton Topcats were both called off.

One game did go ahead on Sunday, though, as EBL leaders Reading Rockets won their 13th successive league game, to beat Essex Leopards 74-63.

Thunder do not have a game this weekend and are next in action on February 2, when they host Tees Valley.
