Top Brit Bridger powers to glory

SPEEDWAY sensation Lewis Bridger has taken yet another significant step on the road to stardom.

The 16-year-old wonder kid became British Under-18s Champion at the Monmore Stadium in Wolverhampton on Monday night.

Lewis, who rides in the country's Elite League for Eastbourne Eagles, clinched the title with a maximum 15-point haul from his five rides.

He sealed a notable triumph by leading the night's final heat from start to finish after blasting out of the starting gates.

Lewis overtook two riders in a single brilliant manoeuvre to net heat 13 having bypassed overall runner-up Tai Waffinden in an eventually pivotal heat 11.

He also crossed the line first in heats four and six and his dominance was underlined by his setting of the evening's three fastest times.

Lewis took part in his first grasstrack meeting at the weekend when he contested the Wimborne Whoppa.
